Our office is committed to helping our patients keep their natural teeth whenever possible. When a tooth has had too much damage and has become very painful or shows signs of an infection then we often will recommend a root canal treatment prior to other restorations.

A common misconception is that a root canal treatment is a painful procedure.

Simply by removing the diseased tissue and bacteria and filling the resulting space with a biocompatible filling material to keep out new bacteria allows the tooth to become a stable foundation for a crown or bridge.

Common causes for the need of endodontic treatment:

  • Inflamed/infected tooth pulp
  • Severe sensitivity to hot and cold elements
  • Tooth decay
  • Chipped or broken tooth
  • Trauma to the tooth
  • Swelling or tenderness near the infected tooth
  • Repeated dental procedures on a tooth

Please contact our office for an evaluation if you experience any of the symptoms above, many times we will be able to treat the tooth within our office however in more complicated cases we will refer you to an Endodontist.

Endodontists receive advanced education after graduating from dental school and typically only deal with endodontic-related problems.
